Description
Traditionally
restored village house in Albuñuelas, which overlooks the
Rio Santo Gorge, reputed to be one of the most beautiful
villages in the Lecrin Valley. The house is on three levels,
with a roof terrace providing stunning views over the gorge.
The house is well equipped and comfortable with good quality
furnishings. There are 2 double bedrooms, and can accomodate
an extra person in a 'Z'-bed or cot. The roof terrace is
supplied with sun recliners, table and chairs, BBQ, and
shaded area for welcome respite from the summer sun. Imagine
enjoying a cool glass of wine, watching the eagles over the
gorge as the sun sets! Guests also have access to the
private orange orchard (as many oranges as you can eat for
free!), ideal for picnics or splashing about in the paddling
pool-please check at time of booking. Casa de la Puerta
Grande is just around the corner from Casa de la Largartija,
so would be ideal for two families or a larger party
holidaying together. |

Albuñuelas
was on the route of the first Arab traders, and
the epic GR7 walk
from Gibraltar to Istanbul passes through (one of the
GR7 markers can be seen on the wall). The name
Albuñuelas means 'abundance' and you can certainly see
that from the variety of produce- olives, oranges,
grapes, lemons, avocados to name just a few. You
certainly get a chance to try out your Spanish language
skills as many of the locals do not speak any English,
and don't be surprised to see a donkey or mule going
past your door as it is still a major means of transport
here.
Albuñuelas
is ideally located between Granada, with its Alhambra
and Moroccan quarter, and the Costa Tropical (approx 30
mins drive). The ski resort of Sol Y Nieve in the Sierra
Nevada is within driving distance (45 mins) and the
Alpujarras (remember Driving Over Lemons??!!) is around
30 mins drive too. The area is well served by Malaga
airport (90 mins) and now the airport at Granada (35
mins) has incoming Ryanair flights from Liverpool and
Stansted and Monarch flights from Gatwick. Please
contact us if you need assistance in finding flights or
car hire.
