Located in the middle
of the Costa Blanca, which is one of the most
beautiful parts of Spain Gran Alacant is fifteen
minutes
drive south of Alicante . The villa is just ten
minutes from the airport, but not under the flight
path, and a few minutes from the beaches. Santa Pola
is ten minutes south on the main road. There are
regular bus services to Alicante, Santa Pola and to
Carabassi beach.
The golden sandy beach is backed by dunes planted with
small pine trees, leading to a nature reserve. There
are more sandy beaches and a promenade at Arenales
half a mile to the north. The coastline between Gran
Alacant and Santa Pola is very unspoiled and natural.
Popular local pastimes include hang gliding from the
cliffs, scuba diving and sea fishing.
Local tourist attractions include a Safari Park near
Santa Pola, the Terra Mitica theme park and Aqualand
near Benidorm, which is 40 minutes drive north.
Further down the coast are the resorts of La Marina,
Guardamar and Torrevieja all of which have clean safe
beaches . There are many interesting inland towns and
villages in the mountains to explore. The town of
Elche, famous for its many Palm Parks, is a short
drive inland. There are six good class golf courses
within 40 minutes drive from the house.
